Janet Sellers studied environmental design and fine art at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA.
At the inner city art think tank Self Help Graphics and Art in East Los Angeles, she designed and directed monumental outdoor
murals with the Los Angeles mural movement.
Her honors and awards in the arts include honors from the Los Angeles Bureau of Cultural Affairs, the cities of Seoul and
Pusan Korea, and certificates for studies in traditional Japanese arts.
Her public art vitae includes celebrated mural works in Los Angeles, California, and large public art sculptures in Colorado
cities and museums.
Current artworks in the public arena include works exhibited in the public art venues of Colorado cities
including Loveland, Longmont, Denver, Lone Tree, Parker, Colorado Springs and Monument.
She studied Asian art history and traditional Asian cultural arts at various museums in Japan over the
course of a 2-year museum sponsorship.
She received her two Baccalaureate degrees from San Francisco State University in Japanese Language, German Literature, and
Chinese language studies, and was awarded the Japanese Ministry of Education Scholarship honors for literature.

Studied Japanese painting and calligraphy at Atami Art Museum in Atami, Japan. After receiving her degree in Japanese Language
from San Francisco State University, she went on to study fine art and design, working as a translator for art exhibition
catalogs and as a gallery assistant at Far East Fine Arts, San Francisco, California.
She studied drawing and painting at Art Center College of Design, going on to a free lance art career in design and fine
art public murals in Los Angeles, California. She taught painting and monoprinting at Cerro Coso Community College, Ridgecrest,
CA, and Drawing, Painting and Murals as head instructor at Kidsart Studios, Pasadena,CA. She currently teaches Painting,
Drawing, Illustration and short films as head instructor at Monument School of Fine Arts, Monument, CO.
She teaches classical, traditional painting in pastel,watercolor, acrylic or oils using her proprietary method to advance
students' technical skills in realistic paintings. Subjects are taught using classical still life, landscapes, as well as
animal and human portraits, and plein air painting.
